Mechanisms Of Action
This gum paint works by inhibiting the growth of individual fungal cells by altering the permeability of the fungal cell wall. It binds to phospholipids in the cell membrane and inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol and other sterols required for cell membrane production. Clotrimazole may be fungistatic (slow fungal growth) or fungicidal (result in fungal cell death)
Pharmacology
Clotrimazole 1.00 % w/v gum paint is applied locally on gums in severe yeast & fungal infections and inflammatory conditions. it is an antiseptic medicine used to prevent and treat minor wounds and infections in mouth. It kills sensitive organisms like bacteria, fungus, protozoa, and spores present mouth. It is also used to sanitize skin before a surgical procedure is performed. Clotrimazole 1.00 % w/v Gum paint anti-fungal medication used to treat yeast and fungal infections in mouth Mouth Paint limits the production of ergosterol which is an important component of fungal cell membrane. Disruption in its production leads to development of holes in the membrane and leakage of cell component, therefore resulting in the death of the bacteria.
Precaution
Pregnancy, Medical history, For Dental use only, Do not rinse with water or eat/drink anything for 10 minutes after the application of gum paint.
